9th Chemnitz Education Market for Sustainability

"Mobility in transition" - pupils from primary and secondary schools and grammar schools as well as girls and boys from daycare centres visit the "Kraftwerk" for four days

For the 9th time, the Environmental Centre of the City of Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Education Network are organising the annual 14-day Education Market for Sustainability, which has been held in Chemnitz since 2005. This year's theme is "Mobility in transition". The education market will run until 15 November at the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre (Kaßbergstraße 36). The programme includes a themed exhibition, activity days for children and young people and a teacher workshop. To mark the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, this year's programme is dedicated to the topics of mobility and movement and the connections between mobility and the environment. The focus will be on mobility behaviour and its impact on the environment.

It starts at the power plant on Wednesday, 6 November with a visit from pupils from Chemnitz primary schools, followed on Friday, 8 November by pupils from secondary schools and grammar schools. The following week, on Monday 11 November and Wednesday 13 November, girls and boys from Chemnitz nurseries will be guests at the education market.

The organisers are delighted with the extraordinarily lively response from schools and daycare centres once again this year. According to Ingrid Kasiske from the City of Chemnitz Environmental Centre, a total of around 600 visitors are expected at the 9th Chemnitz Education Market.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend - note: children and young people will be guests at the power station from 8.30 a.m. until around 12 noon on each of the four days mentioned.
