90,000 euros from the federal government for individual LAP projects in Chemnitz

Supported in 2014: Intercultural film week, CFC project day against discrimination, "Show your face and voice against the right" campaign, "Upcycling Now" art project on the Sonnenberg and "Piggyback Mentoring 2014"

Good news from the federal government for the financial support of individual projects that are being planned, prepared and implemented in Chemnitz this year under the major theme of "Promoting Tolerance - Strengthening Competence". "A considerable sum of 90,000 euros has been announced by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth to the Chemnitz Coordination Office for the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz," says Ines Vorsatz, Head of the LAP Coordination Office. "Our monitoring committee supports the committed project work and focuses on key priorities: Funding is provided for individual projects that are dedicated to anti-racism work, early prevention and, of course, the important topic of civil courage."

The following five individual projects will be funded by the federal programme in Chemnitz in 2014:

The Chemnitz football club is committed to its home town of Chemnitz as a model region against discrimination in sport and society. Under the title "Show racism the red card - project day at the CFC", workshops are organised for children and young people to teach social skills and raise awareness of the issues of racism and discrimination. The Huckepack-Kinderförderung association is working together with Chemnitz University of Technology and is continuing the successful "Huckepack Mentoring 2014" project.
