875 years of Chemnitz - places of welfare care

On two tours to the historic round trip in vintage buses on 21 April

On 21 April 2018, the League of Independent Welfare Associations invites all interested citizens to follow in the footsteps of social work in Chemnitz. The association is thus taking part in the 875th anniversary of Chemnitz.
Participation is free of charge, but the work of the league can be supported with a small donation on site.

Historic tour in two vintage buses
Anyone interested in finding out how charitable organisations shape a city can experience this on a historical tour in two vintage buses. Accompanied by an expert guide, two different tours will take you to various places in the city where social work is carried out. The themes of the city's anniversary provide an inspiring basis for further questions: What challenges does independent charity face? What is the value of charity today? What forms of welfare care existed in the past?

Each tour will include a guided tour of a charitable organisation.

Rescue station" tour - in the H6 vintage bus (31 seats)
- with a guided tour of the DRK rescue centre
- Times: 10.30 am to 12.30 pm AND 1 pm to 3 pm
Meeting point is 15 minutes before the start on the forecourt of Chemnitz main station.

Partner workshop" tour - in the Ikarus 55 vintage bus (36 seats)
- with a guided tour of the partner workshop for disabled people
- Times: 10 am to 12.30 pm AND 1 pm to 3.30 pm
Meeting point is 15 minutes before the start on the forecourt of Chemnitz main station.

Participants will learn about the main areas of work of the welfare organisations with historical and current references, because like the turbulent development of the city, independent welfare work has also been subject to change over time. They experience how buildings have changed in form, functionality and use or where they have disappeared and what the content of the work was and is over the course of time.

The tour is accompanied by the brochure "Together for Chemnitz - Places of Welfare Care", which is handed out to all participants.

To take part in the respective tour, please register by calling Stephanie Meichsner at the Chemnitz regional office on 0371/ 40474144 or online at www.parisax.de/rundfahrt. Please indicate whether you require assistance.
