80 years of Chemnitz city pool - anniversary party
"Into the water, get set to go" is the motto for the whole family on 8 November 2015
One of the best-known and most striking buildings in our city is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. And you can hardly see it. The pioneering Bauhaus-style architecture, the perfect interplay of form and function still makes the Chemnitz municipal swimming pool appear timelessly modern and contemporary today. The Stadtbad is and always has been a centre of attraction for sporting life in Chemnitz.
On 8 November 2015, a big celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to mark this anniversary, to which all Chemnitz residents are invited.
There will be a programme for the whole family, for old and young, for sports enthusiasts and the curious. The joy of sporting activity is to be experienced in a variety of ways.
And since the Chemnitz city pool is not only one of the architectural landmarks of our city, but also a symbol of the extraordinary achievements and successes of our top swimmers at Olympic, World and European Championships, former top swimmers from Chemnitz and Karl-Marx-Stadt will do the honours in the city pool on this day. The party will be hosted by André Hardt, the well-known voice of Radio Chemnitz.
In addition to guided tours of the city pool and lots of fun and games, an aqua parcour and acrobatics on the ground, in the air and from the tower will keep spectators enthralled. A dance performance with a historical fashion show by Chemnitz Theatre, a bike show, a professional underwater photo shoot and many other highlights await visitors.
