7th Education Fair of the City of Chemnitz
For interested pupils in years 3 and 4 and their parents on 5 November 2016, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Central Lecture Hall and Seminar Building of Chemnitz University of Technology "Orangerie", Reichenhainer Str. 90
Towards the end of primary school, all pupils and their parents have to decide which secondary school to attend, secondary school or grammar school.
The 7th education fair organised by the city of Chemnitz invites pupils and parents to go on a journey of discovery and find the secondary school that suits them best. Visiting the fair makes it easier to choose a school, i.e. the transition from primary school to secondary school, especially with regard to the personal educational biography.
Eleven municipal secondary schools of the city of Chemnitz, seven municipal grammar schools of the city of Chemnitz, four independent schools (Waldorf School Chemnitz, Protestant School Centre, Montessori School Chemnitz and the Regebogenschulen of DPFA-Schulen gGmbH) are represented at the fair. Teachers and pupils from the various Chemnitz schools will be available to answer questions at many stands.
In addition, for the first time this year, the municipal vocational school centres will have a joint stand to provide information on what to do after leaving school.
The Education and Sports Office, the Saxon Education Agency, Chemnitz Regional Office, and CVAG will also be represented with information stands and contact persons. The Chemnitz Regional Office of the Saxon Education Agency will be providing information on school careers, educational pathways and qualifications, while CVAG will be providing information on public transport connections. The Education and Sports Office will be providing information about school transport and partial reimbursement options and will have supplementary sheets to the school route guide available.
Background:
Many people may think that the change of school at the end of year four will determine the rest of their education and thus their whole life. For some, changing to a grammar school can be the start of their career. After all, some grammar schools offer a very specialised education. Many, however, choose a suitable grammar school and study specifically for their qualification there in order to gain a solid education. Others, on the other hand, are not yet sure which path they want to take. The learning workload at grammar school still scares them and their achievements are not so famous. Although the secondary school pays even more attention than before to individual support, performance orientation, permeability and connectivity, some pupils do not want to go to the trouble of changing to an existing class at a grammar school. But there are solutions for these pupils too.
This is precisely why the vocational school centres have been invited for the first time this year. They will be answering questions that may arise for secondary school leavers, such as: Can I perhaps never study at university now because I've messed up my A-levels? No, you can make up for it right after the 10th grade!
At the fair, students will also find out about other educational opportunities at a vocational school centre with its various types of school. With a solid secondary school leaving certificate in your pocket, there are so many opportunities open to you.
To summarise: it is important for our students to never give up and to achieve the highest possible qualification for themselves. There is definitely a way to get there. And after all, education determines the rest of your life and, not least, your future standard of living.
