75 years married - Marianne and Hans Jahn
Congratulations on your special wedding anniversary on 13 March 2018
On Tuesday, 13 March 2018, Marianne and Hans Jahn from Chemnitz celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, their so-called "crown jewel wedding". The couple have lived in the "Matthias Claudius" care home for the elderly at Max-Schäller-Straße 3 in 09122 Chemnitz since the end of 2016.
Marianne Jahn, née Gräßler, was born on 18 February 1922 in Glösa, Hans Jahn on 27 September 1919 in Chemnitz. They also got married in Glösa on 13 March 1943 while Hans Jahn was on furlough. The marriage produced two sons, and today the family has one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
The Jahn couple could always count on the support of their sons and their families, but Hans Jahn's health restrictions made it necessary for him to move into a care home in 2016. They also mastered this major change together: Marianne Jahn decided to accompany her husband and move into a shared room in the facility with him.
They both have fond memories of times gone by, especially of their magnificent garden, which used to be their pride and joy and their favourite hobby. Hans Jahn, a trained mechanical engineer, also loved painting and basket weaving as well as complicated Lego constructions, which he was still trying out with his great-grandson a few years ago. Marianne Jahn also had a wide range of interests; the trained seamstress pursued various professional activities throughout her life, including working as a cook and in retail.
