70 years of marriage - Marianne and Hans Jahn
Congratulations on your special wedding anniversary on 13 March 2013
On Wednesday, 13 March 2013, Marianne and Hans Jahn from Chemnitz are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, their so-called "marriage of grace". Among the well-wishers at the couple's home at Kutusowstraße 104 in 09130 Chemnitz will be the City of Chemnitz: Andreas Liese from the Mayor's Office will offer his congratulations to the couple on 13 March at 10 am.
The anniversary will initially be celebrated on a small scale at home, followed by a celebration with the whole family at the weekend.
Marianne Jahn, née Gräßler, was born on 18 February 1922 in Glösa, Hans Jahn on 27 September 1919 in Chemnitz. They got married in Glösa on 13 March 1943 during one of Hans Jahn's furloughs and have remained faithful to each other to this day. The marriage produced two sons, and the family now has one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
The Jahns can always count on the support of their sons and their families: Although both are still sprightly and live in their own home, they are happy to receive help with everyday tasks. They remember their splendid garden with some nostalgia, as it was their pride and joy until a few years ago and always brought joy to the whole family with its abundant yields. But even today, the jubilarians enjoy being creative. As a trained mechanical engineer, Hans Jahn particularly enjoys complicated Lego constructions, which he puts into practice and tests together with his 10-year-old great-grandson. Painting and basket weaving are other hobbies that fascinate him. Marianne Jahn's varied occupation throughout her life - as a trained seamstress, she later also worked as a cook and in retail - has given her a practical aptitude and a wide range of interests.
This keeps them both mentally fit and they hope to have many more years of marriage together.
