6th summer of books in the city library successfully concluded

The fact that reading can also be exciting and entertaining for young people was once again demonstrated by the high level of participation in the "Buchsommer Sachsen" reading campaign. 447 children and young people took part in the Chemnitz City Library this summer, borrowing around 1785 books.
Book Summer - the reading promotion project of Saxon public libraries - has been sponsored by the Saxon State Ministry for four years. For many young people with a passion for reading, it is a fixed part of the summer holiday programme, and not just because of the grade 1 in German that is awarded in most schools if you can produce a certificate. Above all, it is the desire to read exciting books. Most of them enjoy sharing their reading experiences so that the staff at the city library can also share their stories. So the book summer is a win-win situation for everyone and always a reason to celebrate.
All participants who have read at least three books will receive a prize on 11 September,
3 p.m. at the "Atomino" club as part of a closing party.
The certificates will be presented by Jörg Heynoldt, Head of the Chemnitz Regional Office of the Saxon Education Agency, and Library Director Elke Beer. A somewhat different German lesson is also on the programme. Under the motto "Verweile doch, du bist so schön...", Dresden actor Jürgen Stegmann and musician Benni Gerlach (Letzte Instanz) will present ballads by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller.
A disco and a surprise buffet will round off the party.
