50 km/h on Neefestraße
From the end of September, a speed limit of 50 km/h will apply on Neefestraße between the motorway exit and the Chemnitz exhibition centre.
This was explained today to the city councillors in the Committee for Urban Development and Mobility by the administration.
The city of Chemnitz's accident commission recommended this as the number of accidents on this stretch of road has risen in recent years.
Although the number of accidents fell slightly last year, this was mainly due to the lockdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting massive drop in road traffic. As a percentage of the traffic volume, however, it has continued to rise.
The Commission hopes that the reduction to 50 kilometres per hour will lead to a significant decrease in the number of accidents in this section.
