4th construction phase for the renovation of Parkstrasse approved
At its meeting today, the city council unanimously approved the 4th construction phase of the coordinated Parkstrasse construction project between Beckerstrasse and Katharinenstrasse.
The Parkstraße is covered with patches, small potholes and longitudinal and transverse cracks in the aforementioned section. The road surface is uneven and in a poor condition, making repairs urgently necessary.
The 4th construction section of Parkstrasse has a length of approx. 285 metres. The two-lane carriageway will have a minimum width of 5.50 metres. The 2 metre wide parking spaces will be retained on both sides. The northern kerb will be slightly shifted away from the existing trees. The southern kerb will remain unchanged. The pavements will also remain unchanged, with a new superstructure of natural stone paving or slabs.
At the junctions with Herderstraße and Katharinenstraße, the side areas will be rearranged in advance. The asphalt layers will be renewed and re-profiled where necessary.
The construction work will be carried out in a coordinated manner, i.e. in coordination with the waste disposal company of the city of Chemnitz (ESC) and eins/inetz.
The ESC will rehabilitate the damaged sewers and renew the connecting sewers. The work will extend from the manhole at the junction with Beckerstrasse to the manhole at Katharinenstrasse.
Between Beckerstrasse and Herderstrasse, eins/inetz will replace the DN 300 drinking water pipe with a DN 300 cast iron pipe over a length of approx. 150 metres. A second pipe (DN 125, Parkstrasse/Hederstrasse ring closure) will also be laid in this section. Furthermore, the old DN 100 GG grey cast iron pipe is to be replaced with a DN 125 PE plastic pipe over a length of approx. 230 metres between Herderstraße and Katharinenstraße.
In addition, eins/inetz will lay a road crossing with empty conduits with 6 x OD 160 at the level of Parkstraße house no. 13b/15 parallel to the existing crossing for electricity connections. In addition, pipework with 4 x OD 125 is planned at the level of the Parkstraße 13 transformer station.
This project will be realised under the leadership of the ESC.
The City of Chemnitz's share of the costs for the road construction amounts to around EUR 622,000, of which around EUR 467,000 is funding from the Free State of Saxony from the "Flat-rate allocations in accordance with Section 17 (1) No. 2 of the Saxon Financial Equalisation Act" programme.
The final funding rate for this measure can only be determined when the overall settlement is made.
