41 projects will be funded in 2012 as part of the Local Action Plan

Many committed Chemnitz residents support campaigns against right-wing violence and are committed to a tolerant coexistence of different cultures in Chemnitz. This commitment is reflected in the numerous projects and campaigns that have been supported in the city in recent years with city budget funds or as part of the federal programme. Please find attached the overviews of the funded projects for the 2012 funding period.

This year, the City of Chemnitz once again invested €80,000 in preventative measures that deal with issues such as violence, neo-Nazism, prejudice, coming to terms with history and discrimination. With a funding volume of €485,062.00, the applications significantly exceed the available funds from the municipal budget and the federal programme "Promoting Tolerance - Strengthening Competence" amounting to €175,000. A total of 41 projects are currently being funded.

The fact that the Local Action Plan reaches a large number of different initiatives and stakeholders deserves special recognition. Sports clubs, parishes and the city's youth fire brigade are just as involved as schools, clubs and citizens' initiatives. The large number of ideas and projects show that right-wing ideas are being addressed in a non-violent and creative way. Examples of this include the street gallery organised by AktionC on 5 March 2012, the actions of the Bunter Brühl alliance against the Nazi scene shop, the continuation of the "Wachsam in Chemnitz" website on neo-Nazi activities in Chemnitz (link: http://wachsam-in-chemnitz.de/rechte-strukturen-in-chemnitz) and the exhibition by BI Chemnitzer City on the eponymous roses of the Rosenhof (Oradour, Lidice, Coventry).
