3rd Chemnitz Reading Night on 23 April at the TIETZ

On World Book Day on 23 April 2016, the regional literary scene will come together from 4 pm to midnight for the 3rd Chemnitz Reading Night at the TIETZ. Chemnitz authors, literary associations, writing workshops, publishers, bookshops and antiquarian bookshops will present themselves with a large book market around the Petrified Forest in the foyer of the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20. Visitors can expect a varied, literary programme, hands-on activities for the whole family and live music with the Syrian band Youma, the group Solche and students from the Chemnitz music school. Admission is free.

23 April 2016 is not only World Book Day, but also the 400th anniversary of the deaths of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. In honour of the great authors, the puppet theatre will be performing excerpts from the current play Don Quixote based on Miguel de Cervantes. University lecturers Cecile Sandten and Eike Kronshage will recite Shakespeare.

4.30 pm - 9 pm | open reading stage "Read and let read" with authors, publishers, reciters and language lecturers from the adult education centre, accompanied by soloists and ensembles from the Chemnitz Music School

18:00 | Reading by the Writing Carvers - The Chemnitz University of Technology's writing workshop presents a "best of" its productions.

20:30 | Ayoub Thaer - reading and thoughts about flight, asylum and home, musical accompaniment by the Syrian band "Youma"
