35 Chemnitz projects for democracy will be funded by the city and federal government in 2015.
Information from the Coordination Centre on the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP)
In the coming years, 2015 to 2019, the city of Chemnitz will be supported by the federal programme "Democracies Live! Active against right-wing extremism, violence and misanthropy" programme in its preventative work. In 2015, 35 projects will be funded as part of the Partnership for Democracy programme. Ines Vorsatz, the coordinator, is delighted with the high number of project organisers and creative ideas: "They enrich the city of Chemnitz and contribute to a diverse culture of life."
The funding programme is supported by the federal government with 55,000 euros per year. This volume is earmarked for specific purposes: 25,000 euros per year for a coordination and specialist centre, 5,000 euros per year for public relations work, 5,000 euros per year for a youth fund and 20,000 euros per year for an action fund.
The external coordination centre is managed by the Network for Cultural and Youth Work. It manages the fund for public relations work and the youth fund. Through the federal programme, the youth fund is linked to a youth forum. The aim is to promote low-threshold youth participation. The youth forum has got off to a successful start in Chemnitz and decides independently on grant applications.
The federal programme's action fund is used to top up the municipal action fund. This amounts to 80,000.00 euros. Most of the funds are already committed to projects.
