33rd "Jugend musiziert" regional competition successfully concluded
Prizewinners' concert on 3 March in Mittweida town hall
Yesterday, Sunday, the 33rd Chemnitz regional competition "Jugend musiziert" came to a successful conclusion at the Mittweida music school.
124 young musicians played in Chemnitz, Mittweida and Stollberg in the categories wind instruments solo, plucked instruments solo, piano four-handed, duo art song: voice and a piano and duo: piano and a string instrument. 52 of them qualified for the 2024 state competition in Dresden. From Chemnitz, 51 participants achieved a 1st prize, 39 with a forwarding to the state competition.
The youngest musicians all achieved good results, but can only qualify for the state level at the age of ten.
In the wind instrument solo category, 25 pupils qualified for the state competition: Laura Schneider from Freiberg (flute), Rahel Quellmalz and her piano accompanist Josephine Lehmann, Anna Chiara Rudelt, piano accompanist (all from Chemnitz), Valentin Giera from Rittersgrün (tuba) and Ida Catharina Wagner from Radebeul (tuba), Nellie Haase from Sehmatal-Cranzahl (clarinet) and Thea Zäbisch from Chemnitz (bassoon) achieved the highest score of 25.
In the solo plucking category, nine students made it through to the state competition, including Denis Goncharov from Chemnitz (guitar) with 25 points.
Ten musicians qualified in the duo category: piano and a string instrument. Sophie Zidar (violin) and Raphael Zidar (piano) from Chemnitz achieved the full score of 25 points.
Four young musicians qualified for the state competition in the duo art song: voice and piano category.
In the piano four-handed category, six musicians will be travelling to the state competition. Gabriel Lehmann and Cornelius Glanz from Chemnitz achieved the full score of 25 points in the four-hand piano category.

Prizewinners' concert
The prizewinners' concert will take place on Sunday 3 March at 4 pm in Mittweida Town Hall (Markt 32, 09648 Mittweida). The youngest prizewinners and some nominated musicians from the state competition will be performing. Admission is free.
