32nd regional competition "Jugend musiziert" 2023 successfully completed
Prizewinners' concert on 11 March at the Municipal Music School
The 32nd regional "Jugend musiziert" competition came to an end this evening at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, the Carl-von-Bach-Gymnasium Stollberg and the Flöha Music School.
117 young musicians played in the categories piano, solo drumset, solo voice, solo accordion, chamber music string ensembles and wind instruments. The harp and new music ensembles competitions took place in other regions of Saxony.
The youngest musicians each won a 1st prize, but can only qualify later at state level. The two young pianists Friedrich Kneissl from Amtsberg and Jonas Bauer from Lößnitz achieved outstanding results. Both achieved the full score of 25 points.
Of the 117 participants in total, 51 qualified for the 2023 state competition in Zwickau.
Eight pupils qualified for the state competition in the "Piano solo" category: Noah Windsheimer, Gabriel Lehmann, Cornelius Glanz, Josefine Lehmann (all from Chemnitz) and Tanja Müller from Freiberg achieved the highest score of 25.
In the "solo drumset" category, three students made it through to the state competition, while in the "solo singing" category, five students qualified for the state competition.
In the string ensemble category, two ensembles (seven participants) qualified for the state competition. The cello quintet from Chemnitz, with Mia Friedrich, Benjamin Müller, Clara Stöß, Lionel Amadeus Taubner and Paula Thümmler, achieved the full score of 25 points.
In the wind ensemble category, six ensembles (18 participants) qualified for the state competition. A recorder duo from Mülsen, Laetitia Schebitz and Ella Paul, and a clarinet trio from Pockau-Lengefeld and Olbernhau scored 25 points.
In the accordion chamber music category, four ensembles (ten participants in total) qualified for the state competition.

Event information: Prizewinners' concert and "Day of the Instruments"
On Sunday, 11 March at 4 p.m., the youngest prizewinners and some nominated musicians from the state competition will present themselves at the prizewinners' concert in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1. Admission to the prizewinners' concert is free of charge.
Before the concert, visitors are also invited to the "Instrument Day", which will take place on 11 March from 12 noon to 3 pm at the music school. This is an open day where potential students of all ages can get to know the teachers at Chemnitz Municipal Music School and try out the instruments.
