32nd regional competition Jugend musiziert
Competition auditions on Saturday and Sunday, 28 and 29 January in Chemnitz, Stollberg and Flöha - Prizewinners' concert on Saturday, 11 March in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School
On Saturday and Sunday, 28 and 29 January, 134 young musicians from Chemnitz, Central Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis will compete in this year's 32nd regional Jugend musiziert competition. This year's competition is organised by the regional committee Jugend musiziert in Chemnitz, Stollberg and Flöha.
Representatives of the media and all those interested in music are cordially invited to attend the competition auditions. Admission is free of charge. (The respective times and locations are listed at the end of the press release.)
In the solo category, 62 young artists have registered for the piano, vocal and drum set (pop) categories. In the ensemble section, 72 participants will face the judgement of the expert juries in the string ensemble, wind ensemble and accordion chamber music categories.
The main organisation and venue for the regional competition this year is the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. The main venue alternates each year between Central Saxony, the Erzgebirge district and the city of Chemnitz. This gives the regional Jugend musiziert competition a wider reach in the region.
"Witnessing the determination, perseverance and development of artistic talent is a highlight of music school life year after year. Especially after the two years in which the competition, but also social music school life beyond that, could not take place regularly, it is a pleasure to experience the regional competition live and in presence again," says Nancy Gibson, Head of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and Chairwoman of the regional committee Jugend musiziert Chemnitz.
The prizewinners' concert at the end of the 32nd regional competition will take place on Saturday, 11 March at 4 pm in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1. Admission to the prizewinners' concert is also free of charge.
This year's competition is being funded by Sparkasse Chemnitz, the City of Chemnitz, the Erzgebirgskreis Cultural Education Centre and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School's Friends' Association.
