On 26 September, the 30th edition of the Saxon competition "Werner Richter" for accordion and bandoneon will take place at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. Accordion and bandoneon players from Saxony who are not professional musicians can take part. Registration is possible until 26 June.
The "Werner Richter" competition aims to encourage interested children, young people and adults in their musical development. It is intended to create opportunities to prepare for other competitions, gain audition experience and exchange ideas with like-minded people.
Werner Richter was one of the founding teachers of the Chemnitz music school in 1950 and headed the accordion department for decades until his retirement. He was a pillar of music school life and was held in high esteem by colleagues and students alike. He also wrote suitable, inspired and often amusing works for his students and ensembles - whether beginners or advanced.
