30 years of the Lila Villa Women's Centre
Presentation of the two-part documentary "Women's Stories" on 20 July, 5 pm, in the garden of the Lila Villa
Over the past 30 years since the Lila Villa Women's Centre was founded, 120 women have been portrayed and presented in individual events and lectures. To mark the 30th anniversary, the staff have now produced a documentary in two parts summarising these 120 women.
This documentation will be presented to the public for the first time on Tuesday, 20 July 2021 at 5 pm in the garden of the Lila Villa.
Women who were involved in the development of the books are particularly invited to attend. But also all those who have portrayed the women from recent and older history as speakers, who have immersed themselves in their lives and brought them back to life in various ways.
Representatives of the media are also cordially invited.
The diversity of biographies from different eras and from all parts of the world illustrates one thing in common: the strength of each woman to assert herself against the zeitgeist and the associated oppression by patriarchal structures. All these women fought for more justice in different ways: the suffragettes who put their lives on the line, women who had to disguise themselves as men in order to get a little closer to their goals, or who never came out themselves as "wives of famous men". The documentary will feature exciting encounters with "old acquaintances", but also with less recognised women: Artists, women's rights activists, philosophers, politicians, scientists...
