30 km/h speed limit on Chemnitztalstraße between Bornaer Straße and Dorfstraße from Wednesday (26 November)

The speed limit of 30 km/h imposed by the city of Chemnitz on Chemnitztalstraße between Bornaer Straße and Dorfstraße will come into effect on Wednesday (26 November). The traffic lights on Chemnitztalstraße will be adjusted to this speed. The construction costs amount to approx. 80,000 euros and the company carrying out the work is Swarco, Leipzig branch.

Background: The ordered speed limit of 30 km/h serves to protect human health. According to Section 47 Paragraph 1 of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), the City of Chemnitz, as the responsible immission control authority, must draw up clean air plans if the immission limit values are exceeded, with the aim of reducing air pollution. For this reason, the 30 km/h speed limit on the aforementioned road section was included in the clean air plan in order to be able to comply with the NO2 limit value on Chemnitztalstraße in future - see the information on the 1st update of the 2011 clean air plan published on www.chemnitz.de:
