29th Saxon Accordion Competition "Werner Richter"

Music school: Competition on 27 September for accordion and bandeon players from Saxony, registration until 27 June

The 29th Saxon Accordion Competition "Werner Richter" will take place on 27 September at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. Accordion and bandoneon players from the federal state of Saxony can take part. Registration is open until 27 June.

The purpose of the "Werner Richter" competition is to promote the musical development of interested amateur musicians of different ages. It is intended to give them the opportunity to prepare for other competitions, gain audition experience and exchange ideas with like-minded people. Professional musicians are therefore excluded from the competition.

Werner Richter was one of the founding teachers of the Chemnitz music school in 1950 and headed the accordion department for decades until his retirement. He was a pillar of music school life that many of today's teachers still remember well. He was held in high esteem by colleagues and students alike. He also wrote suitable, inspired and often amusing works for his students and ensembles, whether beginners or advanced.
