28th Saxon Accordion Competition "Werner Richter"
Music school: On 28 September, competitions from 10 a.m. - festive concert from 5 p.m., in the concert hall of the municipal music school
The 28th Saxon Competition for Accordion and Bandoneon "Werner Richter" will be held on Saturday, 28 September from 10 a.m. at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
In addition to the various scoring categories for accordion, there will also be a bandoneon solo category. The competitions start at 10 am.
The festive concert begins at 5 p.m. with the awarding of prizes and certificates in the concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1. The famous "accordionduo con:trust" will perform at the festive concert.
All competitions as well as the festive concert are open to the public. Admission is free.
Werner Richter was one of the founding teachers of the Chemnitz music school in 1950 and headed the accordion department for decades until his retirement. He was a pillar of music school life that many of today's teachers still remember well. He was held in high esteem by colleagues and pupils alike. He also wrote suitable, inspired and often amusing works for his students and ensembles, whether beginners or advanced.
The bandoneon was originally developed as the "Chemnitzer Concertina" in the 1830s by the Chemnitz instrument maker Carl Friedrich Uhlig.
