28th regional competition "Jugend musiziert" with 135 participants
Competition auditions on 2 and 3 February in Chemnitz, Aue, Großrückerswalde and Flöha - prizewinners' concert on 24 March in Johanngeorgenstadt
The music students are ready to go: The 28th "Jugend musiziert" regional competition will be held this year on Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 February, by the "Jugend musiziert" regional committee in Chemnitz, Aue, Flöha and Großrückerswalde.
75 young artists have registered for the solo category in the string instruments, percussion, mallets, singing (pop) and accordion categories. 60 participants will face the judgement of the expert juries in the regional competition in the ensemble categories of piano chamber music, duo: piano and a wind instrument, plucked string ensemble and early music.
Nancy Gibson, Director of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and Regional Committee Chairwoman: "Taking part in the 'Jugend musiziert' regional competition is always a very important first artistic and musical highlight for pupils and teachers at the start of the new year. Everyone is very excited and full of anticipation, and the participants have of course practised diligently over the turn of the year in order to finally receive high scores for their performances for their presentations at the beginning of February.They hope to receive high scores for their performances and perhaps - hopefully - win a ticket to take part in the Saxon state competition in Leipzig in March as winners of the regional competition."
The main organiser and main venue for the regional competition this year is the district music school in the Erzgebirgskreis cultural education centre. The organisational and financial responsibility for the annual competition in the city and greater Chemnitz area rotates between the Central Saxony Music School, the Erzgebirgskreis District Music School and the Chemnitz City Music School.
In this way - as the organisers have also planned - the regional competition "Jugend musiziert" will receive greater recognition and recognition far beyond the region.
The Chemnitz Regional Committee cordially invites representatives of the media and all those interested in music to visit the competition and would like to draw attention today to the prizewinners' concert at the end of the 28th regional competition. It will take place on Sunday, 24 March 2019 at 4 pm in Johanngeorgenstadt in the Haus der Hoffnung, Schwefelwerkstraße 1.
