270,000 euros in funding for municipal heat planning
The city of Chemnitz is receiving funding totalling 270,000 euros from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) for the preparation of municipal heat planning. A central task of heat planning is the area-based identification of climate-neutral and cost-effective heat supply potential.
The aim of municipal heat planning is to identify opportunities for the expansion and further development of grid-based energy infrastructures for heat supply, the utilisation of heat from renewable energies, unavoidable waste heat or a combination of these. It is also about potential heat savings and the medium and long-term organisation of the heat supply for the urban area. This is a specialised strategic planning process, the results of which must be underpinned by an implementation strategy.
The content can now be developed in detail in close cooperation with the energy supplier eins energie in Sachsen, the wholly owned subsidiary inetz GmbH and other stakeholders. The infrastructure team of the city of Chemnitz, which has already been established and consists of representatives of eins/inetz and the city administration of Chemnitz, will be utilised.
"The good cooperation has already proven itself in other projects such as the European Energy Award (eea), the development of a climate protection concept and the recently completed hydrogen potential study for the Chemnitz region, which received 400.000 euros from the federal government," says Carina Kühnel, Acting Head of the City of Chemnitz's Environment Department, which was responsible for the funding application. The funding rate is 90 per cent.
