25-metre hall and sauna in the municipal pool go back into operation
Extensive refurbishment work at the municipal pool soon to be completed
After a delay due to the extensive renovation work, the sauna in the municipal pool is now scheduled to reopen on Monday, 14 November 2016 and the 25-metre hall in the municipal pool will open a week later, on Monday, 21 November 2016.
The 50-metre hall has been open for public swimming and school swimming since 26 September.
Delays in refurbishment work in an existing listed building are not unusual, partly because it is difficult to determine or estimate the expected uncertainties in the existing structure in advance.
In a building as technically complex as a swimming pool, the modernisation of the building services in particular, such as heating, ventilation, hot and cold water and all electrical installations in the basement, repeatedly require special planning solutions during the construction process, the realisation of which requires additional time.
In the case of the 25-metre hall in the municipal swimming pool, the connections and interfaces to the existing cable, pipe and duct runs in particular, as well as the entire scope of new installations in the electrical and control technology area, proved to be an unforeseeable challenge for the entire building stock of the municipal swimming pool. This is ultimately the reason for the delayed commissioning of the small hall. The showers and toilets in the 25-metre hall will also be completely renovated and modernised before it is put into operation, taking into account the preservation order.
The extensive refurbishment work in the municipal swimming pool has now reached a stage that - after several years of investment in the technical area - is now also visible to visitors to the municipal swimming pool.
