21st SCHLINGEL opens in the opera house

City of Chemnitz awards prize in the International Feature Film category

The International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences SCHLINGEL starts its 21st year on Monday, 26 September at 9.30 am. This time, the opening will take place in the Chemnitz Opera House for the first time. The Mayor for Education, Youth, Social Affairs, Culture and Sport, Philipp Rochold, will open SCHLINGEL together with the Vice President of the Media Council of the Saxon State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media, Christoph Waitz.

During the SCHLINGEL weeks, 179 films from 54 countries will be shown. All productions will be shown in their original language. The films will be translated into German live in the cinema by various speakers.

On 27 September at 2 pm, Mayor Miko Runkel will receive the European Children's Jury in the Green Salon in the Town Hall. This year's jury children come from Budapest, Chemnitz, Eppendorf, Copenhagen, Ljubljana, Prague, Stockholm, Tergnier and Vienna. On 29 September at 11 a.m., Mayor Runkel will receive a delegation of students from Volgograd who are taking part in the film festival.

The award ceremony of the 21st SCHLINGEL on Saturday, 1 October will take place at 5.30 pm in the small hall of the Schauspielhaus. Mayor Miko Runkel will present the award for the best international feature film on behalf of the City of Chemnitz.
