21st Chemnitz Museum Night on Industrial Culture

with "Night tour of industrial culture" in Chemnitz, Mittweida and Oelsnitz/Erzgebirge

"The Year of Industrial Culture 2020 in Saxony" and the 4th Saxon State Exhibition "Boom. 500 Years of Industrial Culture in Saxony" are a major component of the 21st Chemnitz Museum Night of Industrial Culture on Saturday 17 October from 6 pm to 1 am.

The following sites will be showcased as part of the state exhibition: the MaschinenBoom site at the Chemnitz Industrial Museum, the EisenbahnBoom site in Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf and the KohleBoom site at the Oelsnitz/Erzgebirge Mining Museum.

On a "Night Tour of Industrial Culture", visitors can be inspired and inspired by a variety of exhibitions, thematic contributions and cultural-artistic offerings on Saxony's industrial history at 22 stations in Chemnitz, Mittweida and Oelsnitz/Erzgebirge.

The Chemnitz Art Collections will be celebrating their 100th anniversary with the major collection exhibition "In the Morning Light of the Republic" in the König-Albert-Museum on Theaterplatz, the public art project GEGENWARTEN / PRESENCES as well as special exhibitions and guided tours of the museums.

A varied programme of exhibitions, workshops, performances and music awaits guests at the TIETZ. The Neue Sächsische Galerie is showing "100 Saxon Prints 2020" and the Museum of Natural History is offering alternative options for a creative workshop at home. The newly opened Stefan Heym Forum will also be presented.

The Baumgarten-Wölfert memorial exhibition in Grüna, which opened in 2019, will take part in the Museum Night for the first time and guide visitors through the history of aviation.

The special programme of galleries and institutions offers a diverse range of contemporary art and historical explorations in Chemnitz churches.

Due to the Corona regulations, there may be longer waiting times. We ask for your understanding. Visitors are asked to wear a face covering in the museums and facilities as well as in the vehicles and to keep their distance.

Shuttle transport

In addition to the regular CVAG public transport services and selected VMS lines, the participating museums and institutions can also be reached by shuttle bus and train. The admission ticket is also valid as a travel ticket.

Ticket service

The Museum Night ticket is available at a price of ten euros, concessions five euros and is also valid as a travel ticket. Admission is free for children and young people up to the age of 18. The Youth Ticket is valid as a ticket for them. Tickets are now available at the advance booking offices of the tourist information office and the CVAG mobility centre as well as at the museums and facilities of the main programme during opening hours and at the box offices on the day of the event.
