2019 annual financial statements confirmed by city council

At its meeting today, the City Council adopted the 2019 annual financial statements with a positive overall result totalling 50.4 million euros. The budget bylaws for 2019 were adopted by the city council on 19 December 2018. The first planned year of the two-year budget 2019/2020 included a result of -6.6 million euros.

Compared to the updated budget, ordinary income increased by 4.4 million euros to 815.3 million euros. In the same period, ordinary expenses were 53.9 million euros lower than in the updated budget. The improvement in earnings is due, for example, to the favourable economic development of the municipal companies and holdings.

Lower expenses than assumed in the budget were mainly recorded for social benefits at 11.4 million euros, for the maintenance of land and buildings at 9.4 million euros and for the maintenance/management of movable assets at 5.2 million euros.

Cash and cash equivalents decreased by 12.6 million euros.

The level of debt from investment loans was reduced to 129.6 million euros in 2019, i.e. per capita debt is 525 euros/capita. Debt will increase again in the coming years.

High budget appropriations were carried forward to 2020, which are available for further utilisation.
