200 years of the October Revolution
Book launch and discussion on 7 December, 7 pm
The author Dr Gerd Koenen will present his recently published book "The Colour Red - Origins and History of Communism" in the TIETZ event hall on 7 December at 7 pm. This will conclude the five-part supporting programme of the adult education centre for the poster exhibition "Communism in its Age", which has been on display on the 5th floor of the TIETZ since 5 October. Dr Gerd Koenen is also the author of this exhibition on the history of communism. Admission is free.
As a historian, Koenen has been researching topics such as terrorism, communism, socialism and German-Russian relations for decades. On this evening, he will give an introduction to the idea behind the exhibition and present his book "The Colour Red - Origins and History of Communism", which will be published in September 2017. In it, Koenen describes from a new perspective the traces and milestones of the old and still current struggle for social justice in confrontation with reality and links this with intellectual, religious, social and global history.
Gerd Koenen is a historian and publicist. He worked with Lev Kopelev, among others, and has published many award-winning books.
