19th Chemnitz City Festival from 30 August to 1 September
Visitors to the festival and residents of the city centre should also note the traffic authority's information on restrictions in the city centre
The 19th Chemnitz City Festival will take place from 30 August to 1 September in Chemnitz city centre: This year, visitors are invited to visit nine themed areas in the city centre. A city festival beer will be brewed for the first time. Also new is the "Chemnitz Summer" with a harvest festival and wine festival as well as the Chemnitz Music Garden.

The traffic authorities of the City of Chemnitz ask festival visitors, residents of the city centre and all other road users who use the city centre to note that traffic restrictions in the city centre will be necessary from 8 a.m. on Thursday, 29 August in preparation for and during the city festival and will apply until 4 p.m. on Monday, 2 September - please also refer to the attached overview map.
The following traffic closures will be necessary:
Full road closures from Thursday, 29 August, 8 am:
- Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße,
- Theaterstraße from Hartmannstraße to Brückenstraße.
Closures for through traffic with residents free from 8 a.m. on Thursday, 29 August:
- Mühlenstraße between Stadtbad and Brückenstraße (access to Stadtbad and Stumpf Brückenstraße free),
- Straße der Nationen towards the city centre from Carolastraße to Brückenstraße.
Due to the extensive construction work associated with the city festival, the following closures of stationary traffic will also be necessary:
Wednesday, 28 August, from 10 am:
- Parking areas Brückenstraße between Straße der Nationen and Theaterstraße,
- Car park in front of the State Office for Taxation and Finance,
- Mühlenstraße car park between Brückenstraße and Stadtbad.
Wednesday, 28 August, from 4 pm:
- Parking pockets Straße der Nationen(towards the city centre) 50 m before Brückenstraße,
- Brückenstraße parking bays from Straße der Nationen 50 metres in the direction of Bahnhofstraße.
For guests and visitors to the 19th Chemnitz City Festival coming to Chemnitz from outside the city, it has again been organised that Chemnitz Central Station can always be reached by tram or Citybahn.
