18th children's festival on the Küchwald meadow
"We celebrate Children's Day internationally" - Kraftwerk invites visitors on Sunday, 1 June from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Visitors should also note the traffic authority's information on the one-way street regulations on site
To mark International Children's Day, the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre organises a large children's festival on the Küchwaldwiese every year with the support of numerous partners. This year's event is the 18th edition and is scheduled for Sunday, 1 June from 10 am to 6 pm. As in previous years, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig is once again the patron of this traditional event.
Under the motto "We celebrate Children's Day internationally", the organisers have prepared a programme with a wide variety of activities and offers in five action areas. Once again this year, many children are expected to attend with their parents and/or grandparents, friends and relatives. A fixed item on the programme at the children's festival is the presentation of prizes to the winners of the annual creative competition, this time organised on the theme of "Birthday child park railway". According to the organisers, over 200 girls and boys took part in the competition. The award ceremony, to which Karin Genkel, Children's Commissioner of the City of Chemnitz, will bring greetings from the city, will take place at 3 p.m. on the Küchwaldwiese stage.
