18th children's conference with primary school pupils in the town hall

Press invitation on 23 September, from 1.30 pm, City Council Chamber

On Monday, 23 September at 1.30 pm, primary school pupils will meet for the 18th Children's Conference in the town hall. The theme of this year's conference is "Children's rights in the Capital of Culture 2025". Participants will explore children's rights in a gallery workshop and discover age-appropriate themes of the Capital of Culture.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited.

A completely new task for the primary school team will be that they will largely organise the structure of the conference themselves. It will also be the children's task to give an input on children's rights. Later, ideas from the participants will be collected and organised. Capital of culture for all: the children want to understand and help shape this.

The primary school children are supported by school headmasters, school social workers, elected city councillors, municipal institutions, independent socio-cultural initiatives such as the UNICEF working group Chemnitz, the youth welfare office, the coordinator for youth participation and the child and youth representative.

This year's theme of the children's conference is based on the motto of this year's World Children's Day on 20 September 2024: "Into the future with children's rights".

The children's conference also serves as a special framework for the launch of the new family app for Chemnitz.
