18th Chemnitz School Theatre Week
Invitation to the press conference on 7 March, 2.30 pm
Chemnitz Municipal Theatre and the City of Chemnitz Education and Sports Department invite you to a press conference on Monday, 7 March 2016 at 2.30 pm at Annenschule-Oberschule, Annenstraße 23, 09111 Chemnitz.
Mayor Philipp Rochold and General Director Dr Christoph Dittrich will provide information about the programme for the 18th Chemnitz School Theatre Week. Pupils from the school's theatre group will show excerpts from their crime comedy "Die Erbschaft".
The 18th Chemnitz School Theatre Week from 13 to 18 March is dedicated to the theme of "Theatre.Language". Theatre groups from different types of schools will be represented with stories, fairy tales or collages, dance, musicals, puppet plays, black light theatre or their own texts and productions. From 13 to 17 March, 414 children and young people will be presenting 21 plays on the Schauspielhaus stages. Workshops will complement the programme on 18 March 2016 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in all theatres and departments.
The 18th Chemnitz School Theatre Week will be opened by its patron Béla Bélafi, Director of the Saxon Education Agency, Dr Christoph Dittrich, General Director and Philipp Rochold, Mayor, on Sunday, 13 March 2016 at 6 pm in the Schauspielhaus, Grand Stage.
Two performances are on the programme for the opening evening:
"The Legend of Rozafa", a mask theatre play based on the legend of Rozafa from "Old Albanian Tales" by Mithsuh Kuteli, performed by pupils from a DaZ class at the Fof a DaZ class from the Fichteschule Mittweida (secondary school), and "Zombi-Dance", a dance project by classes 9a and 9b from the Annenschule Chemnitz (secondary school).
On Monday, 14 March 2016 at 7.30 pm, a play will be performed by pupils from the twin city of Düsseldorf. The theatre group from Görres-Gymnasium Düsseldorf will perform the play "Wir sahen einander hungrig in die Augen - und haben doch noch gar gar gegessen" based on Frank Wedekind's "FrühlingsErwachen" on the main stage of the Schauspielhaus.
The final event will take place with all participants on Friday, 18 March 2016, 2 p.m. at the Schauspielhaus; large stage.
