16th Chemnitz Reading Advent
City Library: Readings on 30 November and on 7, 14 and 21 December, 5 pm, TIETZ
This year's Reading Advent begins on Thursday, 30 November. The series on four Thursdays in November/December, each at 5 pm, offers a moment to pause and reflect in the often hectic pre-Christmas period. The venue is the Central Library in the TIETZ. Admission is free of charge.
Personalities from Chemnitz will read texts on the theme of arrival and Advent and will be interviewed by Pastor Stephan Tischendorf about themselves and their current projects. The events are accompanied by music from pupils of the municipal music school.
The dates - Thursdays, 5 pm:
- 30 November, Dr Joseph Heß, industrial engineer and TUClab project manager and extreme swimmer Among other things, he swam across the Elbe from Bad Schandau to Hamburg.
- 7 December, Andrea Pier, Commercial Director of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 GmbH
- 14 December, Ella and Vladimir Shvemmer They came to Germany from the Urals in 2004 and have lived in Chemnitz since 2017. They have made it their life's work to support those who live here as foreigners. In 2023, they were honoured with the Chemnitz Peace Prize for their commitment.
- 21 December, Kerstin Graff, project coordinator at the children and youth hotline and storyteller Verenica
The Chemnitz Reading Advent is a project organised by the Evangelical Forum and Chemnitz City Library in cooperation with Radio T e. V. and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
