15th neighbourhood festival at Luisenplatz

On 10 September, local residents, associations and institutions, businesses, schools and interested parties will be presenting themselves for the 15th time with many entertaining and informative offers at over 30 stands. Once again this year, activists from the Schloßchemnitz, Kaßberg and Altendorf neighbourhoods will be present with stalls on site.

From 2 p.m., the meadow will become a colourful playground. With games of skill for body and mind, pony rides, monkey climbing, slackline and monkey swing, bouncy couch, couch lounge, glitter tattoos, face painting, jewellery stalls, acks wheel, bookworm corner, an interactive children's reading, various sports and big games, numerous creative offers, all kinds of culinary delicacies from the international cuisine, e.g. langos, but also good food.For example, langos, but also good things from the grill, hot dogs, popcorn and candy floss and much more, everyone is sure to find their own personal highlight. The multi-faceted Pottpourie of magic, clowning, traditional dances, Zumba, live music with the brass band, theatre performances by the Küchwaldbühne and the ad hoc theatre as well as current and old hits will make the stage programme a crowd-puller until around 8 pm.

"15 years of Luisenfest in Chemnitz Mitte - West" is this year's motto.
At the centre of this traditional family festival are the efforts of the active members of the Mitte-West district, without whom such a diverse range of activities in a peaceful community would hardly be possible. The organisers want to support information, networking, identity strengthening and the further development of civic participation in the Mitte - West area. The focus here is on the various associations, volunteers and voluntary workers in the neighbourhood, as well as on opportunities for interested parties to get actively involved in various projects, as this is how new and interesting aspects can be found and brought together.

It is intended to be a day of encounters with foreign and yet locally present cultures that represents an open, multicultural offer for all neighbourhood residents. Distances between social groups, between young and old, can and should be overcome through joint work and activities, and tolerance should be practised.
Voluntary work in the neighbourhood strengthens the community, overcomes barriers and, last but not least, breaks down the isolation of individual neighbourhood residents. After 15 years of experience gained together with volunteers, voluntary workers and committed residents, we can look back on a successful track record of positive development of social potential in the social space with the neighbourhood festival on Luisenplatz as an annual highlight.

The 15th neighbourhood festival will mark the anniversary of a good tradition. Special offers for children are intended to provide informal interaction and low-threshold access to offers in the neighbourhood. Everyone should be welcome, even new arrivals to the neighbourhood are invited to take part in the cultural life of the district. Experienced migrant volunteers will also be involved, acting as multipliers in their cultural environment to make further potential visible and expand their own social space through their actions. At the same time, they create new synergies for the intercultural community. In this way, inhibitions are overcome so that fellow citizens with a migration background can find access to the public more easily and improved coexistence is made possible.

This year, the main organisation was once again taken over by the neighbourhood management and the community centre Leipziger Straße 39 under the auspices of Neue Arbeit Chemnitz e.V.
