14th Chemnitz company run with large participation of city employees
When the starting signal for the 14th Chemnitz company run is given on Wednesday, 4 September, 308 city employees will also be taking part. Last year there were 292 who ran through Chemnitz city centre. This makes it the largest participation of city administration employees in the Chemnitz company run.
173 women and 135 men from almost all areas of the city administration will set off from 18:30 on Hartmannplatz and complete the almost five-kilometre course. The Main Office, the Office for Information Processing and the Rappelkiste day-care centre will be the strongest teams with 17 athletes each. In addition, 22 trainees from the city will be taking part.
The City of Chemnitz is paying the entry fees as part of its company health management programme. As in the previous year, the employees will run in a uniform outfit.
"Every year, more and more city administration employees lace up their running shoes. We are delighted about that. This year, we are sending out a signal for the bid to become European Capital of Culture 2025 with our clothing," says Mayor Sven Schulze.
This year's Chemnitz company run is once again breaking all records. The organisers have set a record number of participants for the 14th time: 10,050 runners are expected to take to the course on Wednesday. The starting signal will be given by Mayor Sven Schulze, who will then set off on the course himself.
