140 years of the Wittgensdorf volunteer fire brigade
The anniversary will be celebrated with a big fire brigade festival at the weekend (5 and 6 July) in and around the equipment shed at Rathausplatz 1b
On the weekend of Saturday, 5 and Sunday, 6 July, the Chemnitz Florians will be celebrating an anniversary: the Wittgensdorf volunteer fire brigade is celebrating its 140th anniversary. Young and old alike are cordially invited to join in the celebrations on both days - the meeting point is in and around the equipment centre of the volunteer fire brigade in the Wittgensdorf district of Chemnitz at Rathausplatz 1. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend the anniversary celebrations.
Programme on Saturday (5.7.): 10 am: Opening of the anniversary fire brigade festival - children's and family programme with demonstrations, entertainment, fairground rides, bouncy castle, face painting and craft street - coffee and cake, snacks, cocktails, langos and ice cream - 10 am performance by the Flohzirkus daycare centre - 11 am performance by the Fröhlich music school - 3 pm performance by the Garcia Girls - 7 pm: Opening of the evening programme by the Milkauer Schalmeien - 7:30 pm Music and dancing with "FreanS" from Goslar
Programme on Sunday (6.7.): 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Children's and family programme with demonstrations, entertainment, fairground rides, face painting, handicraft street and snacks.

The Wittgensdorf Volunteer Fire Brigade, led by Steve Hanschke, currently has 20 men and 3 women in active service, 8 men and women in the old-age department, 15 children and young people in the youth fire brigade and 3 men and 1 woman in training.
The Wittgensdorf fire brigade's equipment depot was inaugurated on 26 July 2004. The modern equipment of the Wittgensdorf fire brigade includes an LF 16/12 fire engine, a crew transport vehicle and a Decon B civil defence and disaster control truck.
