13th Reading Advent in the city library

Chemnitz personalities read Christmas texts

For thirteen years, the City Library and the Evangelical Forum have jointly organised the Reading Advent series. On four afternoons in November and December, personalities from Chemnitz read Christmas texts and are in conversation with Pastor Dorothee Lücke or Thomas Doyé from the Evangelical Forum and are asked about their reading habits and current projects.

The events are accompanied by music from pupils of the municipal music school. The readings take place on Thursdays at 5 pm in the Central Library in the TIETZ. Admission is free.

This year's guests:

  • 28 November 2019: Alfred Mucha, social worker, head of department of the Chemnitz City Mission's emergency housing assistance service
  • 5 December 2019, Dr Thorid Zierold, curator at the Chemnitz Museum of Natural History
  • 12 December 2019: Anja Richter, curator and director of the Gunzenhauser Museum*
  • 19 December 2019, Svetlana Katchour, opera singer

* Programme change (from 4 December):

Ralph Burghart, Mayor for Education, Social Affairs, Youth, Culture and Sport, Department 5, was originally announced for 12 December.
