135 years of the Jewish community of Chemnitz
Public discussion with the President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Dr Josef Schuster - on 7 September, 6 pm at smac
On Monday, 7 September, 6 pm. September, 6 pm, a public discussion will take place on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz on the topic "Jewish Life in Germany, Saxony, Chemnitz - History, Everyday Life, Prospects" at the smac - State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz.
The panellists are:
- Dr Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany
- Dr Ruth Röcher, Chairwoman of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz
- Renate Aris, contemporary witness from Chemnitz
- Alexander Beribes, member of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz
- Dr Jürgen Nitsche, historian (specialising in the history of Jews in Saxony)
Dr Olaf Glöckner from the Moses Mendelssohn Centre Potsdam will moderate the public discussion.
As places are limited, interested parties are requested to register by Friday, 4 September at buergermeisteramt(at)stadt-chemnitz.de, stating their name and address. Participation without pre-registration is not possible. The current rules of the Corona Protection Ordinance apply.
