10th Chemnitz football tournament for after-school children from municipal facilities

Kick-off on 3 July at 2 pm on the artificial pitch of SG Handwerk in Rabenstein

Whether on the football pitch around the corner, in a club or on the grass in after-school clubs - football is still at the top of the list of recreational sports for boys and, increasingly, for girls. Competing against other teams with team spirit, sporting skill and stamina is the basic idea of the organisers of the Chemnitz football tournament for after-school children from municipal facilities.

For the 10th time, children from Chemnitz aged between six and eleven will be playing on the artificial turf pitch of SG Handwerk Rabenstein on 3 July from 2 pm. During the tournament, there will be performances by the cheerleaders from the Heinrich-Bretschneider-Str. after-school care centre. In addition, the players and spectators will be catered for by the club's on-site catering service. The event will end at around 6 p.m. after the trophy has been presented to the winner.

The fact that this event is now taking place for the 10th time is due to the close cooperation with SG Handwerk Rabenstein as well as dedicated teachers from this area.

Experiencing and learning how to deal with victory or defeat, recognising one's own performance limits, fairness, adherence to rules and team effectiveness through fun and enthusiasm for football in a "playful" way also supports the educational work of the after-school centres. The children spent a year preparing for this event: rules were explained and written down, numbers were noted down and compared together, participation in the centre team was negotiated and decided and, above all, a lot of sport was played.
