100 Chemnitz movers and shakers tell their stories
Exhibition opening on 23 January 2017, 5 pm at the State Museum of Archaeology Chemnitz
In the "100 Chemnitzer Macher" exhibition, Chemnitz residents talk about their passions, their businesses, their hobbies and their ideas. On
23 January, the exhibition, which was created as part of the city marketing campaign "The city is me", opens at the Chemnitz State Museum of Archaeology.
At 5 pm, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig invites all makers and interested parties to a makers' meeting.
Media representatives are also cordially invited.
Makers meet annually for dialogue
For the third time now, sportspeople, artists, entrepreneurs and creative people from the city will meet to talk to each other. Mayor Barbara Ludwig will welcome the visitors. Sören Uhle, Managing Director of CWE, will give an outlook on planned city marketing ideas. Afterwards, Ferenc Csák, Head of Cultural Operations, will talk to the organisers about the idea of Chemnitz applying to become European Capital of Culture 2025. The organisers themselves will also be involved in the event: DJ Cath Boo, who talked about her music and her women's network Dieda in an interview with the makers last October, will be on the turntables. De Nischelhupper-Jumpcrew Chemnitz" will also be there to demonstrate their skills.
32 new stories with inventiveness and uniqueness
32 new stories, which were published in the "Makers of the Week" interview series last year, complement the previous exhibition. This brings together more than 100 interviews from 2014, 2015 and 2016.
They include young start-ups such as Saralon, a spin-off from the university whose ink makes intelligent packaging possible, as well as traditional companies such as Lindner Armaturen, which has been operating in the city for 111 years. In addition to the makers' stories, practical ideas from the Holzkombinat and creative ideas from the Wednesday afternoon project - a crocheted and knitted cultural experiment - will also be on display.
The popular maker magazine will also be continued and will tell of Chemnitz's successes and curiosities on 92 pages. It is available free of charge from Chemnitz Town Hall and smac.
The exhibition will be open during smac opening hours (Tuesday to Sunday: 10 am - 6 pm, Thursday: 10 am - 8 pm). It will be on display until 29 January 2017 and will then move on to other locations in Chemnitz.
