10 years community centre Leipziger Straße 39
Anniversary celebration on 23 November 2016 from 2 to 6 pm
The community centre at Leipziger Straße 39, which has been actively working in the area between Schloßchemnitz/ Kaßberg and Altendorf for 10 years now through the association Neue Arbeit Chemnitz e.V. and the neighbourhood management, has good reason to celebrate.
On 23 November 2016, the team invites all former employees, interns, cooperation partners, tradespeople, companions, residents, representatives of associations, initiatives, representatives of the City of Chemnitz and other supporters to join in the celebrations at the community centre at Leipziger Straße 39 from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Media representatives are also cordially invited.
The day is intended to provide an opportunity to find out about the many opportunities and innovations, but also to look back on the last 10 years in a reflective way. It should also not be forgotten that the work in the neighbourhood began back in 2001, when it was still a citizens' office at Leipziger Straße 3, making this day a highlight at the end of 2016. The full-time and volunteer staff will ensure a pleasant atmosphere.
For 10 years, the community centre has been a central point of contact/meeting place and communication hub for all residents, associations, initiatives, tradespeople and district activists in the Mitte-West district and offers space for the realisation of new ideas. Positive urban development, citizen participation in building and planning projects and involvement in neighbourhood work are central themes of the neighbourhood management's work on site. At the same time, Neue Arbeit Chemnitz e.V. is a reliable partner for those seeking help. The free social counselling centre and job application assistance are very popular and help to give people stability and confidence. The centre offers advice and help as well as a wide range of opportunities for learning, creative and leisure activities.
The successful work of the community centre at Leipziger Strasse 39 will continue to be an integral part of the district's work. The "Citizens' Centre" holds potential for new district projects, cooperation and impetus in the context of local work.
Volunteers in particular have created a great deal over the years and form an important part of the work at the community centre. It was only with the support of volunteers that the former "Calimero" restaurant could be converted into the current community centre 10 years ago. An exhibition of the groups, which are regularly led and organised by volunteers, will be on display.
