Chemnitz on the move - the new exercise trail

Lage AOK-PLUS Bewegungsparcour an der Ecke Theunertstraße/Schloßstraße

On 15 July, the new section of the exercise trail diagonally opposite the Schloßteichhalle (Schloßstraße/Theunertstraße) was opened.

Now all sports enthusiasts are cordially invited to familiarise themselves with and try out this new facility for active exercise in the fresh air.

The Chemnitz exercise trail is:

  • a modern outdoor sports facility with the best opportunities for individual and group training;
  • accessible to anyone who wants to do sport in their free time;
  • a combined multi-generational space with elements of a fitness trail and a playground.

Background

Since 2018, the Healthy Chemnitz working group has been working across the topics of physical activity, growing up healthy, nutrition and a healthy environment and has been shaping health-promoting processes in Chemnitz in a sustainable and target group-orientated manner. In the area of physical activity, this includes not only exercise programmes, but also the design of outdoor facilities that promote physical activity as part of urban development measures. You can find more information at www.chemnitz.de/GesundesChemnitz.

The course was developed in cooperation with the City of Chemnitz (Healthy Chemnitz Working Group), Department 6, the Citizens' Platform Centre, the Children and Youth Officer and AOK PLUS.
