Short description:
The Chemnitz Youth Association, founded by former and current users of the project and an independent youth welfare organisation, has been running the intergenerational and ecologically oriented VIP JUNIOR children's and youth centre in the premises of a former Reichskita from the 1950s for over 25 years.
Being a model of integration formulates the goal of being open as a social/sociocultural infrastructure for children, adolescents and young adults, regardless of cultural and scene affiliation, health impairments, social positions or milieus, personally differing problem situations, educational levels, political orientations, generations, etc. and striving for the participation of the target groups. The open youth work is partly funded by the City of Chemnitz. The work of voluntary supporters is an essential basis for successful project work.
Offers:
- Open child and youth work programmes, i.e. a wide range of leisure activities (ecological, socio-cultural and intergenerational) such as
- sporting activities (beach volleyball, football, table tennis, billiards, table football)
- Work projects (maintenance of the grounds, herb garden, animal enclosure, new installations)
- Home economics programmes (green kitchen, baking specials)
- Project days/workshops, alternative creative activities
- School and family highlights/events (school enrolment, Halloween, sugar cone party, carnival, youth consecration etc.)
- Major projects such as the herb garden festival and Ebersdorf Christmas market
