The association was founded in 2007 to provide financial and practical support for Chemnitz Zoo and the Oberrabenstein Wildlife Park. The main purpose of the association is to collect donations to improve the conditions in which the animals are kept, to support the educational mission and to increase the attractiveness and recreational value of the facility. In recent years, numerous projects and new facilities have been realised by the association or with its help.
