SWF e.V. (Selbsthilfe Wohnprojekt Further Straße) is a non-profit organisation that has been established in the youth welfare landscape in Chemnitz since 1990. As one of the first organisations to be founded after the political change, the association is familiar with local youth welfare structures. The aim is to develop and expand an alternative and creative living space for children and youth services. To achieve this, it is actively involved in various projects in a wide range of Chemnitz committees.
As an "association from below", as the SWF e.V. sees itself, it regards self-help as the strongest human resource.
Today, the association has around 30 members and is managed by an honorary board.
After an eventful history in the building at Further Straße 30 and its reprivatisation, the focus of the association's work today is on operating youth welfare facilities and services in accordance with Sections 11, 13 and 14 of Book VIII of the German Social Code.
