Short description:
The Eisschnelllaufclub Chemnitz e.V. has almost 200 club members, mostly children and young people. The club covers the entire spectrum of the sport in age groups 6-18, from competitive sport to popular sport, and also trains short track and inline skating/speed skating.
Four full-time coaches and currently ten volunteer trainers ensure that the ECC has retained this status as the only remaining national base at the ice sports centre.
The 2023/24 season was the most successful since the club was founded. The club can look back on several German championship titles and was also able to send participants to the Junior World Cup, the Junior World Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
The best-known but no longer active member and at the same time the biggest role model for the kids is Nico Ihle, who has stood on the podium at World Cups 14 times, won 21 German championship titles and was runner-up at the World Championships.
Information on training groups and taster sessions can be found on the club website.
