The Kunstturnverein Chemnitz e.V. is considered the centre of men's artistic gymnastics in Saxony. It currently has 390 members who are active in the fields of artistic gymnastics, health gymnastics, children's gymnastics and in its children's world of movement.
The KTV Chemnitz was founded on 22 August 1994. It emerged from the gymnastics section of the Chemnitz Sports Club, formerly SC Karl-Marx-Stadt.
Chemnitz has been a recognised national gymnastics base of the DTB and a state gymnastics base in Saxony since 1991. There are currently 5 national squads and 25 state squads at the national and state centre.
Since its foundation, the gymnasts of KTV Chemnitz have won 84 gold, 72 silver and 67 bronze medals at the German championships in artistic gymnastics, sports acrobatics and aerobics.
With its results at the German senior and junior championships, the KTV Chemnitz has been able to achieve a leading position among the clubs in Germany every year.
