The hiking group was founded in 1951 as the hiking section of the BSG Motor Wanderer-Werke in Chemnitz.
It was founded as a registered association in 1995. The aim of the organisation is to promote sport. Organisation and implementation of hiking events for members and also for non-members. Trained instructors and hiking guides are employed.
