Short description:

The Chemnitz Chamber Choir is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020. It was founded in 1990 on the initiative of choirmaster and music teacher Ruth Winkler as a choir of former school leavers from a Chemnitz school. The choir has been a member of the Chemnitz Music Association since 1992 and became a member of the Saxon Choral Association in 2006.
In addition to organising concerts, the choir has also demonstrated its high level of musicianship in competitions with other choirs in Saxony. In 2015, the Chemnitz Chamber Choir took part in the Muldental Choir Competition "with outstanding success" and was awarded the "Special Prize of the Saxon Choir Association". In 2016, the choir successfully performed Carl Orff's Carmina Burana together with guest singers on the Küchwaldbühne Chemnitz stage.
Other highlights in the choir's history were the performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas oratorio, the choral symphony concert to mark the association's 20th anniversary and the concert tour of Scotland in 2011.
