A tree can only thrive if it has deep, firm roots. Since April 2011, there has been a row of horse chestnut trees "Am Wall", right in the centre of Chemnitz. They were planted as part of the "Rooted in Chemnitz" project, under the leadership of the Commissioner for Foreigners and in close cooperation with the Parks Department and the city's integration network. The patron of the project is Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig.
